Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Kirti Vardhan Singh, launched India’s Net Zero Portal on World Ozone Day to enhance transparency in the country’s climate commitments. This centralized digital platform allows Indian entities across various sectors to voluntarily register and disclose their net-zero targets.
Environment Pulse Desk: Aiming to make significant strides towards India’s long-term climate goals, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh has taken a bold step by launching the country’s Net Zero Portal on the occasion of World Ozone Day.
Elaborating on the future plan, a spokesperson said that this centralised digital platform will enable Indian entities across sectors to voluntarily register and disclose their Net Zero commitments.
Reportedly the portal is designed to strengthen transparency, consolidate entity-level climate action, and support India’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

It is worth mentioning that India has pledged to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2070 under the Panchamrit vision announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the COP26 summit in Glasgow.
A spokesperson of the government has underlined that the new portal is expected to help track and showcase progress made by businesses, industries, and other organisations towards this national target.
By providing a single platform for voluntary disclosures, the initiative aims to encourage greater participation from the private sector and other stakeholders in India’s climate action efforts. It will also help the government monitor commitments and identify areas requiring further support in the journey to Net Zero.
