The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) marked its 15th Foundation Day with a Stakeholders’ Meet, attended by Union Minister of State Shripad Yesso Naik and other senior energy sector leaders. During the event, leaders lauded SECI’s vital role in leading India’s clean energy transition over the past 15 years, during which it has enabled over 41 GW of commissioned renewable energy capacity, signed power sale agreements for 67+ GW, and attracted cumulative market investments of about ₹3.6 lakh crores. The meet featured two main thematic sessions: one focusing on decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors through green hydrogen and green molecules, and the other discussing distributed renewables, customer engagement, and new energy market frameworks. SECI reaffirmed its commitment to driving future innovations and sustainable growth across India’s renewable energy landscape.

SECI has been instrumental in the delivery of the vision statement of clean energy and Shri Naik, expressed optimism in SECI role being pivotal to its success.
Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, CEA; Mayank Tewari, Additional Secretary, MNRE; Vivek Jain, Chairman, INOXGFL Group and other Senior Officials from the Renewable Energy sector were also present in the event.

The Stakeholders’ Meet consisted of two thematic sessions, “Reimagining Industry through Green Molecules” and “The Changing Energy Landscape: Distributed Renewables and New Energy Markets,” where policymakers, industry leaders and financial institutions came together to discuss the emerging opportunities and challenges influencing India’s energy transition.
The Green Molecules – The Future Industrial 1st session of “Reimagining Industry through Green Molecules” focused on the green hydrogen and its derivatives in the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors and unlocking new industrial growth routes. This session addressed the pathways for supporting domestic production and emerging applications, in conjunction with the requisite policy support, infrastructure technology and financing required to grow green molecule markets in scale.
In particular, the second session — titled “The Changing Energy Landscape: Distributed Renewables and New Energy Markets” — looked at how distributed RE is changing its role in India. Discussions spanned from increased customer engagement, integration of distributed energy resources and new market frameworks to accelerate renewable energy deployment, as well as the surrounding effective policy and regulatory frameworks.
With SECI having completed 15 years of serving the nation in its mission to achieve the best renewable energy generation capacity with more than 41 GW commissioned through third-party developers, power sale agreements for more than 67 GW signed with various DISCOMs/consumers and cumulative market investments enabled for about ₹3.6 lakh crores. The company has its own portfolio of projects scaling fast and involved in creating a strong initiative around E-Soto promoting energy storage, green hydrogen and other areas.
Registered on September 20, 2011 as New Company under the Companies Act, SECI is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE) with its antecedent institution being prescribed under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Initially founded to be India’s exclusive implementation agency for National Solar Mission, Government of India’s pioneering solar programme; it has evolved into India’s leading CPSE dedicated fully in Renewable Energy space spanning across entire RE value chain.
